When life gives you lemons, you use them on your face!
There is a magical thing about lemons and skin that’s incontestable. Not only do lemons provide Vitamin C; which increases collagen production and promotes skin elasticity, they’re loaded with citric acid AKA the cure to the most annoying skin problem ever; Acne, they lighten hyper pigmentation and refresh dull skin. Adding a little bit of lemon to your every day (or every other day if you have sensitive skin) skincare routine will ultimately lead to having “almost” perfect skin.
Note: There is no such thing as perfect skin.
You need to have a clean face before using any of these masks.
1) Lemon + Green Tea: Green tea is fabulous for all skin types, it’s a natural antibacterial, so it helps keep the acne under control, provides protection from UV damage, and is full of antioxidants, minerals and vitamins that nourish your skin, and slow any wrinkle formation.
What you’ll need: Two Tablespoons of Green Tea (You can drink the rest of the cup), Half a Teaspoon of Lemon.
Pat the mixture on to your skin with a cotton, wait for your skin to absorb it, and repeat until the mixture is finished. Leave it on your face for about 10 minutes, and wash it off with cold water.
2) Lemon + Egg White: Egg Whites are a form of protein and they’re full of vitamins, and minerals which protect the skin from damage. They are great for people with oily skin; it reduces oils, tightens pores, therefore fighting acne! Yay Egg Whites!
What you’ll need: One Egg White, One Teaspoon of Lemon Juice.
In a bowl, whisk the egg white until it’s foamy, like a cleanser. Stir in the lemon juice. In a circular motion, massage your face with the mask and then let it sit and dry for 10-15 minutes. Rinse your face with room temperature water. (Not Hot, Not Warm, Not Cold)
3) Lemon + Honey: Honey is one seriously amazing creation. It’s not only a moisturizer, which also preserves the moisture that’s already in your skin, locking it in, it’s also an antiseptic and antibacterial killing acne causing germs and bacteria that are stuck to your skin, and a skin lightener for hyper pigmentation. So it’s the magic balm for dry skin, blemished skin, dark spots, and scars.
What you’ll need: One tablespoon of Honey, Half a Teaspoon of Lemon Juice.
Mix the ingredients together in a small bowl. Using clean fingers, apply it to your face. Let it sit for 10 minutes, then use warm water to loosen up the mask, and finish off with cold water.
You can use any of these masks from one to three times a week depending on how your skin feels, and reacts to them. Don’t be afraid to test them all out! I did, but if you do have dry skin then stay away from the Lemon/Egg White combination.
